Information Release

October 27, 2009
On October 26, 2009 at about 8:30
p.m. the University of California Police responded to 3637 Canyon Crest Dr.
(Bannockburn Village Apartments) for a robbery that had just occurred. Officers
contacted a UCR student who said a stranger approached him in the south parking
lot of Bannockburn Village and asked to borrow his cell phone. After the
student allowed this person to use his phone, the suspect demanded his money
before returning it. The victim feared for his safety, gave the suspect
his money and was given the cell phone back. The suspect then walked away
towards Canyon Crest Drive. Officers checked the area, but could not
locate this suspect.
The suspect is described a
dark skinned black male, 20-25 years old, about 6’01” tall, slim build, no
facial hair, wearing a dark colored jacket, blue jeans and a backpack.
UCPD is asking anyone with
any information about this crime to contact the University of California Police
Department at 951.827.5222. UCPD would like to remind everyone to be aware
of their surroundings when walking alone and to make an effort to walk with a
friend, especially at night.
