Suspect Sought for Two Attempted Sexual Assaults in UCR area
Riverside, CA -- Riverside Police Department Investigators are looking to
identify a suspect in two separate attempted sexual assaults that occurred near
the campus of the University of California at Riverside. On May 27, 2009 at
about 9:30 PM, a female was attacked by an assailant that knocked her to the
ground and attempted to sexually assault her. That suspect fled when a witness
came to the victim’s aid. On June 1, 2009 about 11:00 PM, a female was
approached from behind by an assailant that knocked her to the ground and
attempted to sexually assault her. The suspect fled on foot.
Both female victims were alone at the time of attack and the suspect is
believed to have been hiding in shrubbery and the cloak of darkness and or
shadows due to the time of night. On both occasions, police responded and
searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him. During the first
incident, the suspect fled through the UCR campus, driving a possible newer
model dark gray or charcoal colored Acura or foreign made vehicle.
The suspect is described as a White male adult, in his late 30’s to early 50’s,
5’8”, heavy set, shaved head with slight balding pattern, light colored graying
goatee and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Witness information has led to the attached composite drawing that police are
looking to identify. If anyone sees a person matching this description, they
are encouraged to call 9-1-1 and refer to this sexual assault case in the area
of UCR. Women are reminded to use the “Buddy System”, remain vigilant and walk
with others whenever possible, especially in areas with limited or obstructed
lighting.
